Bio

Alex Khorram

Mr. Khorram is responsible for vision, strategy, product, sales, and day-to-day operations for machineQ.

MachineQ is Comcast’s new service that leverages the latest in sensor, network, and software technologies to gather, transmit, and create actionable intelligence from the physical world.

Mr. Khorram has been financing and operating tech and communications companies over a 20-year period. He began his career working for a telecommunications start-up, ATX, that was a pioneer in the rapidly growing local exchange market in 1997, and subsequently went public via an acquisition by CoreComm Ltd.

Mr. Khorram led ATX’s product team that built an integrated T1 business in the US and led NTL’s (the largest cable company in Europe and CoreComm’s sister company) launch of a similar product in the UK. Later, as SVP of Corporate and Business Development, he took the newly re-capitalized business public, led interconnect negotiations with the RBOCs, re-capitalized over $1b in debt and other obligations, and worked closely with Leucadia National Corp. on a Chapter-11 turnaround that resulted into a 2x equity multiple in less than 18 months. Subsequently, Mr. Khorram co-founded GPX Enterprises, a private equity firm that invested over $100m in telecom and real estate opportunities, and co-founded, financed, and operated Clearband wireless broadband, Cliqsearch, a social search engine, and Whims, a messaging platform hailed by Fast Company and TechCrunch as the “Instagram for Words.”

Mr. Khorram earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and an MBA from London Business School, and is a graduate of Gettysburg College.
